Since moving in we tended to have a bit of a random battle with the postman and deliveries. They were never too sure what to do with our post. Some left it in the garage to be discovered days later, some knocked the door and few times, it was left on the gate.
I decided we needed a better solution. I’d make one and attach it to the new recycling area I’d built. This would mean they wouldn’t have to make any choices and we knew where our post went.
I designed a very simple box with lid and made it out of left over larch. The hardest part was how to hinge the lid so it opened and closed properly. I chose stainless steel screws and hinges so they’d last in the wet weather. Fitting it was a bit fiddly but decided on a wooden batten attached to the cladding and one screwed into the box. This meant I could screw the two battens together from the top to secure it.
