Now I had my lovely workshop with new benches fitted, I needed somewhere to stool the hand tools. Once again, online research was my friend and I looked at a whole number of ideas. I compared shop bought designs with DIY solutions. In the end, I didn’t copy anything other than use a combination of ideas.

I used larch from the hundreds of boards I had left over from the bargain pallet we’d bought for the garden. There was no need for this to be anything other than functional. It didn’t need to look pretty, just store my drill and driver and a few other bits and bobs!
It was an easy and relaxed build, no worries of messing up as I had quite a few boards to work with. In the event, it all went smoothly with the hardest part of the planning being making it wide enough to hang on the strong joists of the workshop.
Costs:- £0
The other recommendation I’d give for a workshop are the two wall mounted screw holder units seen in the first photo. These box trays are brilliant to save the endless searching through boxes trying to find the sized screw you’re looking for. They aren’t the cheapest but well worth the investment of £55 for the unit.
