I still had some off-cuts of Spalted Sycamore from the drawer unit and we needed some bedside tables for our new bed.
Incorporating these onto the new headboard would ensure the two large pieces of furniture in the room would tie together visually. The tables also lighten the block of dark headboard beautifully with detail and contrast.
I cut them to size, treated them with Osmo Wood Preserver, applied 5 coats of Osmo Top Oil and drilled a large hole in the back for cables. Having purchased 4 large steel L-brackets from a trader on Etsy to secure them I fitted them. That part was fairly easy but involved some huffing and puffing but we now have 2 stylish and practical tables to house the usual bedroom table junk on!
Total Cost:- 4 L-Brackets £36
