DIY Outdoor Log Store for Your Garden

The second task I thought wise to further test myself with, was to make an outdoor log store. We like to have a drink in the evenings around our fire pit and I thought it a safe item to attempt. It was far more about function than aesthetic and would be hidden away in our garden.

I grabbed a rough plan online and decided I wanted it to be quite big. I ordered the frame wood from a builders merchant in town. I got the cladding, Larch, from the new found saw mill. I found some left over feather edge in the garage, left by the previous owner, that would do perfectly for the roof.

The trickiest part was the roof. I wanted it to slope front to back and as it wasn’t meant to be perfect, I guessed the way to tackle it. It isn’t perfect and there are things I’d do differently but it works. We now have a fully functional log store that stores a full load with kindling positioned at the top. The wood stays dry and if I’m honest, it looks pretty cool and rustic too!

Cost from memory was £40 for the frame and shelves. Approx £120 for the cladding. Total £160
